Sir Ian McKellen News

Old Gandalf himself spoke with Empire Magazine and gave them the scoop on his upcoming projects. First off, he says he has signed on to reprise his role as Gandalf in Guillermo del Toro's The Hobbit and its sequel. This has long been speculated, but now it's finalized - and it's a good thing, too. They better try to secure as many of the original cast members as possible.

Also, Sir Ian told the magazine that he won't be coming back for the Magneto spin-off film, once titled X-Men Origins: Magneto. He confirmed that the story is a prequel dealing with the early days of Magneto, but he says all the talk about the anti-aging technology that was supposed to be used was rubbish. He said, "I don't think I could get away with playing a 19-year-old." Probably true, sir. Hopefully this is one of those films that never gets made; who wants to see more of Magneto when he's a child? Not me.
